We are Ambassador Girl Scout Troop5152 living near San Diego, California. We are seniors in high school and we love to cook! One year we spent the whole year learning to make different things we loved to eat like fresh pasta and homemade tomato sauce and home made cinnamon rolls, we’ve collected and published a book of Outdoor Gourmet cooking techniques and recipes, and over the holidays last year we went to each girl’s house learning to make a different kind of special cookie. We wanted to share some of those recipes with you in our Virtual Bake Sale.
We’re raising money so that the troop can go to Maine this summer and volunteer at Camp Sunshine, a camp for children with life threatening illnesses and their families. We volunteered last summer and we fell in love with the families and decided that we had to go back again this summer. We can’t sell Girl Scout cookies online but we’re allowed to have a bake sale and since many of you are shopping on our site from all over the country we thought that it would be easiest for you if we sell you our recipes, so you can make your own. These aren’t the recipes for the cookies that you buy in the boxes..these are much more special than that. They are family treasures and recipes that have been sent to us by friends all over the country who want to help us reach our goal of going to Maine.
Besides the recipes we are also interested in selling you a copy of our book Outdoor Gourmet. In October 2010 we hosted an encampment at Sweetwater Regional Park in San Diego County for Sunnytrails Service Unit and the highlight of the weekend was a Saturday afternoon cookout featuring many different types of outdoor cooking methods and many favorite recipes. Each troop researched and cooked up a different tasty item and participants got to wander from campsite to campsite learning about outdoor cooking and trying samples of different treats. We put together a book that is a compilation of those recipes, tips and directions, it’s called Outdoor Gourmet.
We plan to use the proceeds from the cookbook to travel to Maine and volunteer at Camp Sunshine. Thanks for helping us with that goal.
